Presentations
Every Earl deck starts from the template. Download the file, then build on its layouts. Do not rebuild the look from scratch.
The template
One file, 90 slide layouts, in green, pink, purple and blue, each in a light and a dark theme. Funnel Display and Geist Light are embedded, so it renders correctly on a machine that does not have the fonts installed. The 44 slides inside it are worked examples of the layouts, not a starting deck.

Do
- Download
https://brand.earl.partners/downloads/earl-deck-template.pptxand open it - Add slides by naming a layout from the file, for example
CONTENT_DARKorPILLARS_GREEN_DARK - Fill placeholders by index. Every placeholder is a body placeholder with an idx, listed below
- Delete the example slides you do not need, and replace the copy in the ones you keep
- Hold one hue per section, not per deck. A deck can move through green, pink, purple and blue, and a
SECTION_divider is where the hue changes - Use the closest existing layout when nothing matches exactly
Don't
- Create a blank presentation and style it to match. The canvas is 10in wide, not the 13.333in default
- Draw text boxes. If a slide needs text, it goes in a placeholder
- Set fonts or colours by hand. The template carries them, and anything set manually drifts
- Copy run properties off an example slide to preserve formatting. That pins the font and the hex on every run, which looks right today and stops tracking the theme tomorrow. Set the text alone and let the placeholder inherit
- Reach for
slide.shapes.title. There is no title placeholder on any layout, so it is always empty - Change hue part way through a section. The divider is the only place a hue changes
- Invent a layout, or rename an existing one
- Fall back to
DEFAULT. It is an empty canvas, so reaching for it means drawing the slide yourself - Source your own photography. The
IMG_layouts ship a photo, and replacements come from the brand set - Carry on if the download fails. Stop and say so rather than building the deck from this page
Slide layouts
Sixteen families. Hue and theme are suffixes on the name: _GREEN_, _PINK_, _PURPLE_ and _BLUE_ set the hue, _LIGHT and _DARK set the theme. Green is the default, so the core families drop the hue from the name and read simply CONTENT_LIGHT or SECTION_DARK.
Hue runs by section, the same way it does on the web. A deck moves through the hues, and a SECTION_ divider is where one ends and the next begins. Only SECTION_, CONTENT_ and the seven panel families carry hue variants. TITLE_, TWOCOL_, QUOTE_, CLOSING_ and the IMG_ layouts exist in green only, so a pink or blue section that needs one of those takes the green version rather than an invented name.

Two names carry PowerPoint's duplicate prefix, 1_WORDMARK_GREEN_DARK and 1_STATEMENT_GREEN_LIGHT. They are real layouts. Use the names exactly as they appear here.
Placeholders
Every placeholder is a body placeholder identified by its index. They are all named Text 0 inside the file, so the index is the only way to address one, and there is no title placeholder on any layout. The prompt text in the file is a hint, not a specification: on TITLE_, index 101 reads "sub-headline" but carries the main headline.
| Family | Placeholder indexes | Count |
|---|---|---|
| TITLE_ | 101 headline, 102 date and context | 2 |
| SECTION_ | 101 section number, 102 section name, 103 one-line description | 3 |
| CONTENT_ | 101 eyebrow, 102 title, 103 lead paragraph, 104 body | 4 |
| TWOCOL_ | 101 eyebrow, 102 title, 103 and 106 column labels, 104 and 107 stat (light) or column heading (dark), 105 and 108 supporting text | 8 |
| QUOTE_ | 101 quote, 102 attribution and source | 2 |
| CLOSING_ | 101 closing statement, 102 contact line | 2 |
| IMG_FULL | 102 overlay headline | 1 |
| IMG_RIGHT_ / IMG_LEFT_ | 102 eyebrow, 103 title, 104 body on the text side | 3 |
| STATEMENT_ | 101 the statement | 1 |
| PILLARS_ | 100 section name, 101 title, 102 intro, then 103 to 111 as three sets of number, heading and description | 12 |
| PILLAR_DETAIL_ | 101 number, 102 label, 103 headline, 104 lead, 105 body | 5 |
| STATS_ | 100 section name, 101 title, then 102 to 107 as three pairs of figure and label, 108 supporting paragraph | 9 |
| ENGAGEMENTS_ | 100 section name, 101 title, then 102 to 116 as three blocks of label, fee, fee basis, title and description | 17 |
| LOGO_STRIP_ | 101 heading, 102 note. Logos are pictures, placed on the slide | 2 |
| WORDMARK_ | 101 contact line. The wordmark itself is fixed | 1 |
Photography
On the IMG_ layouts the photograph is a picture shape, not a picture placeholder. The layout ships a default image and a slide replaces it by placing its own at the same frame. Keep the layout's photo, or swap it for one of the brand crops on the imagery page. Do not source your own. The wordmark is baked into every layout, so do not add a logo.
